2007-12-19 23:01:57 80 000 hits! Thank You!

GameScanner.org today reached 80 000 visits!
"Thank you, thank You!"
I would like to say that this tiny accomplishment would not be possible without the support of great people like you! Err, but who are you people? No, I'm serious. Who are you? Do you visit me 'cuz there is nothing else on the net? Do you visit me 'cuz you download my scans and use them for bootleg game covers made in China for those NES knock offs called Pegasus? Or are you just visiting me for no apparent reason?
I really would like to hear [read] from you why you do that. I don't write much material, site is not news intensive. It's not advertised anywhere. That puzzles me. Hmm... Than again, it's cool to think that somewhere on other side of the world, or just next door, is some person that finds my interest, well ... interesting.
So I ask: Why you visit me and do you like my site? Please, I'd love to hear form few of you and with your permission I would post few letters here.
Tonight I'm going out with very good friends of mine out for few beers, laughs and a bar fight (lets hope not :) ). Time to cool off the PC for a while and talk to people the old fashioned way: face to face. Thank you for visiting me. I hope I'll have 'comments' option implemented soon so I could get some input form all of you.
Take care and stay healthy! 80 000 is a nice digit, but I want more!!!

2007-12-14 06:43:06 How to unlock Nokia N75 for free on AT&T/Cingular network?
|
|
I'm just posting random stuff.
I've been using a fairly good Nokia phone, the N75. But the darn thing has a sim lock so you can not use it while traveling abroad or to use on other GSM network. Instead of paying some one a $75 - $100 fee for a "hardware" method of removing a sim lock, just call AT&T and tell them that you want to unlock your phone cuz you're gonna travel. They will take your request and email. In about four days you will get the unlock code.
But be very careful! Check your imei serial number before you'll start putting the unlock code. If you enter the code wrong five times it will permanently lock the phone unit to that carrier. Good luck and hope this helps anyone. Or not.

2007-12-13 05:56:10 Sleep deprived. Listening to Beatport.com and jogging. A lot!
|
|
Sleep deprived.
Yes I am. Like many of you who work lots of hours, commute far to work or school and still find time for your hobbies end up with little sleep. On top of that I've been jogging for the past three months almost six days a week for about 45 minutes around my neighborhood. I can see and feel the effects already. My goal is to go down to about 180 lbs, cuz after that I'll look like a skeletor. Not a sightly thing to see.
Beatport.com / DJ steve boyett / Podrunner
For the best running mixes I found Podrunner by DJ SteveBoy who has one of the best pod casts on iTunes if you are into fast bpm's. http://www.djsteveboy.com/ mixes his songs into a over an hour long tracks which is perfect for listening while running or jogging. https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/home/detail/1/welcome_to_beatport is where he gets his original songs. I can not tell you how behind I'm on a music scene. I don't even watch TV, believe it! So I was nicely surprised to get such breadth of choice.
And when it comes to jogging I'm back into it and love it! Few years ago I let myself go and gained 235 lbs. Lost a GF partially because of it at the time. So I started running and in the course of only eight months I dropped down to 176 lbs!!! Got photos to prove it! Then few years later I let myself go again and went back to 210 lbs. Trust me, it's not hard to lose weight. It's much harder to keep it off. But I can do it and just goes to prove it that little bit of motivation will work for me. Three months going strong, rain, snow or shine I run. I would love to post some before and after photos down the road. Will see about that.
I would hate to look for this entry in the summer time to delete it! lol
oh! I dunno where I heard this line from but I like it a lot: "If I want your opinion, I'll give it to you!"

Update: Console Hardware
- Nintendo Game Cube Microphone Attachment Peripheral DOL-025 JAPAN
Today back to old stuff. I dug up my Nintendo Game Cube Game: Odama. I noticed that there weren't many photos of this tiny peripheral so you all know what I had to do ... No, not that! Pictures! Think Pictures! Darn you ppl.
Visit his person's website: http://maru-chang.com/hard/dol/english.htm where you will find very in-depth explanation of all of the Nintendo terminology. This is very helpful for all of those neat freaks out there (including myself) who want to know more than the obvious.
I'm working now on a very in-depth illustrated guide to cleaning, maintaining & repairing Nintendo NES cartridges and systems. So for now, see you laterz. :]

2007-12-04 15:19:51 Master Chief PaperCraft Helmet - RELEASED !!!
|
Finally!!!
I almost gave up on the entire project, but last night I just made myself finish it. Click on the image to download it!
First four pages will walk you step by step how to build it and I hope I wrote the instruction manual in a very easy way to comprehend it. It is very important not to scale or resize the document in any way so that all the parts will match in size. There are few flaws here and there that I'm aware of but should not pose a problem when building the helmet.
Email me your pics of finished helmet and i will post it on my site! Make master Chief proud!
ATTENTION! Read before you print the document!
- download latest Adobe Acrobat Reader www.adobe.com
- document is in it's default size
- when printing DO NOT "scale" the document
- when printing DO NOT "fit to page"
- helmet is life size, but www.gamescanner.org does not reccomend to wear it
- it is for display purposes only
- for personal use
- can not be used for commercial purposes even without the monetary gain
- enjoy

2007-12-03 04:50:09 Some small changes coming up in a few months
|
Hi all!
No forums. Screw that. Not that I need it anyway. In return I will implement "Comments" under each post soon without registration. Don't you hate it when you need something and site makes you register just to post one question? I will not make you do that. Just a small verification to make sure you're not a bot will do. I think this will be sufficient enough to do that.
ImageEvent which is hosting my images and is by far, the best and most reliable paid image hosting provider made some [positive] changes to their subscription. For mere $64.99/year I will get unlimited, yes, I said UN-EFEN-LIMITED storage space and will be able to mess with HTML which will allow me to unify the look with my site. I think I'll do that some time early next year.
But don't just take my word for it. Just check them out and see how far $24.99/year will take you. Go on! What are you waiting for!?

Hello. For the time being. I am going to find out why was my forum deleted. I will let everyone know soon.

2007-10-06 17:08:01 Halo 3 came out, I had 3rd anniversary of my site and Forum is down!
|
Sad news, cuz I've missed soo much!
1. Helmet is not done because of all the stuff I'm running, and dunno when I'll finish.
2. On Sept 26th this site is now three years old!
3. I just cranked 60,000 hits thanks to all of you, and without any advertisements
4. Halo 3 came out
5. Forum is down!
1. I promised to finish Master Chief's helmet by game release. Did not happen. I have files ready on my pc but no energy to finish. Have lots of problems in my personal life that are keeping me away form finishing it. But I want to.... So we'll see later what will happen.
2. Happy 3rd anniversary! This time went by so fast. I was thinking of doing something special for all of you who visit and view [steal ;( ] my images using various uploading software. Can't help there. But I had this in mind when I was starting this project, so no harm done. Again, even if u upload all of those images, please at least give me credit for it. I could watermark the images, but as you know, I'm not about that. I may watermark some images of items I know that are super hard to find. But not now.
3. 60,000 hits! Man, to me this is important. Numbers are not 100% accurate that still is impressive. Considering how little written content my site has, and how infrequently is being updated. Heck, I don't even write well in engrish (lol) but this you can excuse me.
4. Ah, Halo 3. So I did pre-order the Legendary Edition over a year ago at local GameStop. I had the game paid off in full too. I'm not 18 anymore and I can't stand in line at 2am fighting for something that I'll get anyways. Ok, I've missed the whole experience thingy but I can live with that.
5. For some reason my forum went off line. Dunno why! I'm so tired and overwhelmed that I don't know when I will find time to fix this. So here is where I am getting at:
I NEED HELP! There. I've said it. I'm looking for a responsible adult human being that would be willing to become my Forum administrator. But I need someone who is experienced and like to work for free. I dish out all the cash for the Yahoo Hosting and Image Event who hosts my images. So If anyone is interested, please email me about it.
So till next time, take care of yourselves!

2007-08-09 01:47:48 Aquired some stuff
|
Cruising about thrift stores in Chicago sometimes produces unexpected results.
For few bucks I was able to purchase the following games:
Only cartridges:
- Virtua Fighter : Sega Genesis
- King's Bounty A Conqueror's Quest : Sega Genesis
- Desert Strike : Sega Genesis
- Jungle Strike : Sega Genesis(loved this one!)
- F1-Race : Game Boy
- Monster Rancher Battle Card GB : Game Boy
- Kirby's Star Stacker : Game Boy
- Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance : Xbox (3 games)
Boxed games:
- Phalanx : SNES
- Gradius III : SNES
Strategy guides:
- Soul Calibur II Limited Edition : all consoles
- Phantasy Star Universe : (x2) new
All I need to do is get a little cleaning on the cartridges and testing if all work, take pictures, scan boxes and put for sale. eBay? No! Possibly PayPal (hmm, still eBay) or Google Checkout... Yep, maybe GC. Call Goooooogle all you want. I like them and use them every day. Darn, should have invested in their stocks when I had a chance.

2007-08-06 23:34:04 Update, games and Master Chief Helmet update, sort of.
|
Hello!
Back again from the abyss. I'm so freaking busy right now it's not funny. No really, not funny. Still playing BF2145 [Mr.MillerMGD] as a sniper. Since I just don't have the luxury of joining a squad I just join here and there and kill me a dog or two.
Reactivated the Final Fantasy XI Content ID. I'm starting all over again on Fenrir server as a Taru [Nintento] BLM, a LVL12 and growing. And yes, I typed NintenTo not Nintendo. From many reasons I had to move my NintenDO character from Pandemonium to Fenrir. When I did it (after paying $25.00) I was surprised by the fact that my name was taken. Boy, was I mad. I even called POL, but no budge. So the closest thing was NintenTO. So it is.

I started working again on finishing files on Master Chief Paper Helmet. I'll get back to it in a later update.
Finally I've shot some nice images of Nintendo NES Advantage arcade stick.
Console hardware:
- Nintendo NES Advantage Arcade Joystick NES-026
Head over to above section for 14 new images. I've been using a simple Kodak C653 6.1MP digital camera, but I hope to upgrade to a 8 or 10 DSLR so my image could greatly improve.
And I ask of you, please give me credit for the images if you use them on your sites. Thank you all and see you next time!

2007-05-29 04:57:01 Master Chief Paper Helmet - just a peek! Update 5
|
Back again! I told you I love doing it. Like I said before, assembly manual is done and all fans will see it in a complete final full release. Now I am working on parts themselves and corect tab configuration. Here is just a small shot:

As you can see I AM NOT wasting time! And I joked about waiting for game release in September! I will release it as soon as it's done. :)
PLEASE! Go and spread the buzz all over the net, as this will be my utilmate reward. I hope many will enjoy this as one of the best free gifts a Halo fan can get or receive. Honestly I have more fun designing this whole thing, than building it. Go and tell as many ppl as you can about this small project of mine.
Thank you! Have fun! I AM!

2007-05-28 03:57:31 Papercraft: Master Chief helmet made of paper! Update 4
|
Hello. The parts assembly manual is complete in PDF form! Sorry, I will not post any photos of it now. I'm just being paranoid perhaps. Once all is complete I post it. Now I have to move on to actual paper parts. Pepakura, a small in size but mighty in its abilities, still is not perfect. The software doesn't align parts on sheets as efficient and paper savy as I hoped. Major problem (or lack of feature) is that software does not number the parts it shows. That would be a time saving feature. But hey, nothing is perfect. My lack of english composition writing and spelling is one prime example. What i can show is this photo:

As you can see, I've numbered and marked all the parts on the actual MCH. Very helpful in designing instruction manual. It's coming along quiet nicely. I'll have to take a break til next week, but who knows, I've become so obsessed with it I might just finish earlier...
.

|
2007-05-26 20:49:18 Papercraft: Master Chief Helmet made of paper! Update 3
|
Started working on assembly/instuction manual to buid the MCH. I have few ideas running around my head, but this is what I came up with. I always liked simplicity, so I shows here too:

This may differ from final product, but it's pretty close to it. My goal is to make this as professional looking as my time allows. I also removed few polygons around jaw area, as it did not make any sense or purpose.
I know the Forums are off line. I took it down after being spammed with russian porn sites. Sorry for removing few legimate users. I'll reopen as soon as I finish the Master Chief Helmet project. Never underestimate the versitality of paper!

2007-05-21 13:25:42 Papercraft: 12" Master Chief helmet made of paper!
|
After a short break I come back to you with a special gift that I will be releasing soon. I got fascinated with software called Pepakura Designer 2, available form Tama Software. So I decided to git it a more closer look and I just sank in. The idea of creating a 3D image on screen and being able to transfer it onto paper in three-dimensional form just amazed me. After a while, I became more familiar with it and decided to put my newly learned skills to a test. I decided to make my own model. After a day or two I finally chose what I wanted to do. A non other than MASTER CHIEF's helmet. I embarked on the project, and (oh boy!) did I stumble. Oh, I DID stumble. Still do. But here, take a look:

I had a hard time to obtain a good model of Master Chief. Keep in mind, my 3d modeling/software skills are low/moderate, so I decided to browse Google's 3D Warehouse and was able to download one model supplied by ollie4 (Thank you! Credit due!). Then I separated the helmet form the rest of the model in Google SkechUp Free edition. After long hours of tinkering with the polygons, or reducing the number of them to make it doable in real life I came up with this:

Spending hours looking at it, I divided the helmet into zones, or grups that are small enough to be printed. Trial and error. This alone took me in between two days. And it may not be still perfect. Then I saved it into Google Earth 4 file. This is one of the files the Pepakura software is able to import. It looks something like this:

For some reason (which caused me many headaches and lost time) Pepakura has problems opening its own file format PDO when I ported the model as OBJ or 3DS.
Now, its all about verifying that all part fit and glue tabs are placed where they are supposed to be. After that, I will test myself by assembling the actual helmet out of paper. Just to mention, this whole process is not easy for me. Lack of knowledge and time (mostly) keep me from all this fun.
Later it will be all a grunt work. I will have to write a assembly instructions, so you people will be able to make it. Obviously, since I am not the owner of this IP, I will release all the files for free for everyone to play with. Most people know, that I am a big Nintendo fan, but still can not deny the awesomness of other games. Halo, the first part, I love truly and have most fun playing with.
Some questions people make ask:
Q: Did you extract Master Chief yourself?
A: No. I downloaded it from Google 3D warehouse.
Q: Is it going to be free?
A: Yes! ( I wouldn't mind a donation, :)
Q: Is is time consuming and hard to do?
A: Yes and No. I'm a self thought, so you can do it to.
Q: What is the finished size of this helmet?
A. it' going to be approx 25cm, or 12 inches tall!
Q: When are you going to release it?
A: After all said and done, around the release of Halo 3.
Q: Why so late?! Release the files now!
A: No! I have to make sure it all works, besides I would be a great gift to community of Halo Fans.
Q: How can i help?
A: Spread the word! Spread the word!
Well, that's it for now. Stay tunned for some more development updates on my Papercraft Master Chief helmet.

2007-04-19 03:03:41 Nintendo AVS
|
Hi. It's been a long time since my last post. I know, life is busy. Very busy. Last time I promised to mention something about Nintendo AVS (Advanced Video System) and my perception about it.
The wireless "Zapper" light gun is a FAKE! Why? I took a close look at it. Very close look. I've noticed many hand made marks on it resulting from sanding it, or polishing it as if it was a plastic model kit requiring assembly. Second, the trigger button has detached itself partially from the body of the gun. Basically, it is nothing more than a red plastic square. The lens was too dark and dirty to conduct any infrared singla through it. But the biggest give-away was the fact that gun is made from two separate pieces and when you look close at it you can see right through it. A tiny slit. I surely testify that wireless zipper is nothing more than a prop.
The cassette player is hard to tell. To me it looked like a cooler version of the one Commodore 64 used. The counter is set to 000. But what is questionable is the fact that I could not see a power cord adapter nor a battery compartment. There was no wire that could connect the cassette player to the console either. But I can not conclude for sure.
And the AVS itself is partially a fake. It works, because it has a regular Nintendo NES motherboard in it. I've noticed some wires popping in between the buttons, but I do not believe the keyboard is actually working. A note said that the controllers can be hidden into the console itself when not in use, but again, I did not notice any openings or slots that could accommodate them. The controllers themselves looked like regular NES but with some kind of faceplate attached over them. Hard to say here.
I conclude that the AVS was just a redesigned Nintendo NES just in case they had to show a working unit during 1985 E3, but id did not have any abilities that Nintendo wanted to show off. I do not think that there is a single game, not even a demo produced to work on a cassette player. All it is, is just a cool idea way ahead of its time.
I promised to show some photos of the AVS, and I will show them, but I just reformatted the pc and don't remember where I saved them to. Just keep waiting. I'll be back with more stuff and forgive me my poor engrish.

2007-02-23 03:02:53 A wedding and Nintendo World Store
|
On February 17 we went to NY. Hated the flight, or lack thereof. Our flight got delayed overall by eight hours. Including two hrs on the plane! But it was worth it. The wedding was just awesome. For about 100 persons. Full blast, good music and food.
But while in NY it dawn on me that there is the one and only Nintendo World Store located on the Rockefeller Plaza. I could not pass this opportunity. Being only for four days in New York left me with very little time for myself. So I made the best of the time I had left and went off to Big Apple and see this store for myself.
So I did manage to spend mere twenty minutes in the house of Nintendo that Mario Built. I took some photos of the store which I will post in my next update. I also took many shots of Nintendo AVS (Advanced Video Game System) that N made for 1985 CES but never produced. I looked closely at the unit and I will share some thoughts about with you. So stay tooned till next time! For all the Nintendo geeks/fans/me it will be worth it!

GameScanner.org quietly passed a 15k hits mark. No big fanfares. Just humbly rolling ahead.
As in good'ol Crankyankers: "Iwanna got to Hawaii! Yea!"
GameStop is having a small sale on all used Xbox games. Buy 2 Get 1 FREE until Feb 18th. I seized the moment and grabbed those three titles for about $22 after taxes:
- Chronicles of Riddick
- Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
- Jade Empire Limited Edition
Games are in excellent condition. Just need to swap those ugly snickered cases. Will look like new. I may be late on the subject, but now is a good time to buy all those old titles you might have passed before. I think the price is right!

2007-02-04 15:40:07 Made my first celebrity wallpaper of Monica Bellucci
|
|
I caved in. I decided to make my first celebrity wallpaper. I'm not a pro, so don't bash me for it too much. I chose Monica Bellucci, as she is one of my favorites. You can view it on www.wallpapergate.com and look for GameScanner.
I looks like this:

I found the image here by simply using goggle. As a background I used an image of a wrist watch mechanism. The font used for Monica's name came form www.dafont.com titled Poesie Noire by Marcio Hirosse.
I uploaded it to wallpapergate.com as for some reason many of my wallpapers did not make it on wallpapergate.com. My original choice of wallpaper posts. In coming days I will completely move to wallpapergate.com.
Few days ago I stopped by Salvation Army again, and found this little surprise. A black cd carrying case wit red Metal Gear Sold logo embroidered on it. For only a mere 50 cents I couldn't resist it. You can find it in my Console Hardware Section (off all the places). I didn't feel like creating a new section for it. So head on to it and check it out. I will list it on eBay soon. All you MGS nuts check out Chicago Video Games on eBay as this seller will list all of my stuff.

If you are ever in Chicago or suburbs you have to check out this moms'n'pops store called Videogames, ETC. It is a dying breed of brick & mortar stores that carries everything from Colecovision to Xbox 360. The store owners name is Shaun and he is part of www.digitpress.com. A cool place to visit. He also repairs video game systems. So if you live near by and want to keep that PS2 or NES of yours alive and well, pay him a visit.
I just came back from there and found these Super Nintendo titles:

These games too, will end up on eBay. Keep your eyes sharp if you want one!
But before I sell them, be sure that I will scan and upload them to my image collection! Take care and have a good week.

BEIJING, Feb. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Nintendo Corp.'s Wii game console has been a runaway success and has outsold Sony's PlayStation 3.
But, Sony Corp. said the two do not belong in the same category.
"Wii could be considered an impulse buy more that anything else," said Dave Karraker, a spokesman for Sony Computer entertainment of America, "but we believe the PS3 will be the console to attract hardcore, committed gamers, while Wii will do little beyond satisfying new and casual players."
However, Perrin Kaplan of Nintendo claimed that the Wii has turned video game market "all upside down," and dismissed Sony's suggestion that Wii only appears to be in high demand because of fewer shipments.
Nintendo recently announced that its Wii game console, which uses an innovative wireless controller to translate the players' motions onto the screen, has upset the order of the video game world.
In electronics stores and elsewhere, there are growing signs that the Wii has taken the lead in buzz and sales over PlayStation 3.
Nintendo's Wii and the Sony's PlayStation 3 were both released in November 2006, and are competing with the Microsoft Xbox 360, also a more powerful game machine. It is a battle with immense stakes, given that the video game industry generated more than 12 billion U.S. dollars in sales last year.
